How to Improve Precision When Using Router Tools
Router
Router falls under woodworking tools. It is used to make a hollow in a hard area such as plastic or wood. They are mainly used in woodcutting, like those making cabinets they are fastened using a router while cutting. They are driven by electricity or hands.
A router has a spindle whereby at the base, it can be mounted on an electric motor that is fixed on the shaft. This part is adjustable and thus gives the user the precise size or area that he or she would like to cut. The adjustable part may vary from one manufacturer to another.
Just as we have seen above, the router is used to hollow out some parts of the wood, plastic, and metal. It’s also used to make some fancy designs, edge grooves, and patterns. It is used in designing of ornamental mouldings and cabinetry.
A motor-driven spindle powers the router hence can be used in various tasks as there are very many routers available. A router is a vital tool that a woodcutter should have in order to work efficiently and to make unique, quality products. Two types of router are available in the market. We have
Ø Fixed base
Ø plunge base
Fixed routers
The router is fixed at the base on a location, and the router bits cannot move, nor can it plunge from top bottom. You can set it manually as you set the depth that you want to cut. The fixed base has a higher degree of accuracy as you cut the wood, metal, or plastic than it is with the plunge router.
A fixed router allows one to set up the precise size you want to cut on the wood as you extend the router at the base. A plunge router also allows you to set the exact size you want, but with this router, the base has to lay on the surface been cut. Both types give various different designs as you set them.
PLUDGE ROUTE
The pludge router is mostly used in making simple designs and projects and thus can be used in homes. While for big complex design and commercial project fixed router base is the best to use.
The pludge router moves up and down, and the spring load arms on the sides allow you to move it manually as the cutting blade cut the wood from the upper side. This is very important whenever you work on the upper side and not on the Edge. Pludge routers are used on the edge work as well as profiling. Since these routers have great super precise cut as require, they are most used in fixing various joints and also when lying on the table.
If you have the option on which you can choose as a carpenter, it is recommended that you can first use the pledge as they can be used in various ways as the router bits aren’t fixed and can be set according to the standard you were to cut the wood. If you have lots of work that may involve profiling cutting joints, the fixed router is the best for this case.
