Landscaping Ideas with Grass and Rocks
If you are a homeowner, at some point you are going to need to do something about your outdoor space. While landscaping may seem like a daunting project, there are lots of options out there. Here are some ideas to help you figure out what you want to do.
Grass
Many people like to have grass in at least a part of their yard. You will have to decide whether you want to plant seeds or lay sod. For cost effectiveness, you will likely want to go with seeding your yard. Be sure to get some good advice on the right type of grass seeds for your area and when is the best time to plant. It can take up to two years for your lawn to be lush and full.
If you want grass sooner or aren’t sure you can grow it well yourself, you should go with sod. It is already grown and just needs to be rolled out where you want it to be. After a couple of weeks of daily care, the roots will begin to take hold and you can enjoy your yard.
Rocks
If the first thing that comes to mind when considering rocks for your yard is xeriscaping, that’s not a bad idea! It can be a very low maintenance way to make your yard beautiful. If you use a landscaping company that works with hopper bottom trucking, they can simply drive the truck over where you want the rocks and drop them out of the bottom.
If you don’t want to go with all rocks, you could use pebbles as an accent around flowers or as a border between garden and law areas. Boulders can be used with a water feature or to create a firepit. If grass doesn’t grow well around your trees, use a rock border around them.
Whether you want a lush green lawn, a minimalist xeriscape or something in between, you can find a landscaping design that works for you. Taking time to plan before you start will help you get what you want.
